Welcome Luke Gilford

Luke Gilford has joined our roster!

Luke is a writer, director and photographer whose work has been exhibited worldwide, from MoMA in New York to FOAM in Amsterdam. His distinct visual language captures intimate, often unseen worlds, earning features in The New York Times, Vanity Fair, and Vogue.

Having grown up in Colorado with his father in the Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association, Luke Gilford spent his formative years around Rodeo, a world often associated with conservatism and homophobia. It was only later, when he discovered the international Gay Rodeo Association (IGRA), that he began to see himself as part of a rodeo family.

In 2020, he published National Anthem, a photography monograph exploring America’s queer rodeo subculture, which traveled internationally and received critical acclaim.

He then adapted it into a feature film, premiering at Toronto International Film Festival and South by Southwest in 2013. In 2024, he was awarded the Critics Choice “Breakthrough Director” Award.

Luke has directed several commercial films for artists like Kesha and Troye Sivan, as well for prestigious brands such as Mercedes, Apple, Adidas and Valentino.
